So it’s a new year. The holidays are over. We ”celebrated” the last today, 20th-day after Christmas when you’re supposed to take down all the decorations. We didn’t have a tree this year but I had some stuff up that needed to be put away and I’m mostly done. Just a few knick-knacks left to pack up.
I finished the Goodreads reading challenge for 2016. I set the goal for 40 books and I met that already in October. With a bunch of short stories and novellas as well as some comics I ended up finishing at 60 books in total.
I set a new goal for 2017, 40 books again. I read a lot but there is no need to shoot for more than that.
I ”fell behind” schedule when I didn’t finish a book in the first week but today I got the first finish of 2017. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.
It was pretty hard to get into. It’s been on my ”currently reading” list since June last year. I was told it was a good one though so in the end I decided to do the work and get through it and I ended up loving it. I have the sequel on a shelf at home but I want to switch it up a bit this year and not read several books in a row by the same author.
Instead I started Lips Touch by Laini Taylor who wrote Daughter of Smoke and Bone which I absolutely looved. This one’s an antology with three short stories and the first two have been most enjoyable.
I find I like having several books going at once. I’ll start a few and see what grabs hold. I also like to have one ”real” book and one on my Kindle-app. That way I’ll always have something to read no matter where I am. I mean – I’m never far from my phone …
Tomorrow I’m taking the littlest one to the movies but before that I have a book to pick up at the SciFi-book store. Rickard insisted on going with me to keep me from buying anything else – which might be good or I’ll have another ”Oooops”. Not that he could stop me if I really needed/wanted something 😛
I don’t usually read more than one book at once, but if I do I find they need to be one fiction and one non-fiction. I read so much over the holidays, especially as I couldn’t sew or get to the gym!
I’m not into non-fiction reading at all. I always think I should read some non-fiction as well but it just doesn’t thrill me.
I just read about your house woes. I hope you find something excellent, quickly!
