Well, that was indeed a year.
I don’t think I can say anything about 2020 that someone else hasn’t already said. It’s been tough and trying and nothing like I’ve ever seen before. But then every year since the Brexit vote in 2016 has been that way so I’m not holding my breath for 2021.
I didn’t break three digits in my reading in 2020. I finished at 93 so it’s not too shabby but there were long stretches of time where I just couldn’t stomach reading anything.
It got better after the US elections though – but then the coronavirus numbers started rising again in my part of the world and again it’s hard to get anything done.
Christmas and New Years turned into very low-key events. It was just the four of us at home. Which isn’t unusual for New Years but it felt strange when it was the only option.
We’ve had a few health scares in the family during the fall so we are being very careful.
I have a few books pre-ordered that I am looking forward to. There are new Tessa Dare and Courtney Milan full-length novels coming in February, as well as a Regency novel from K.J. Charles (that I am hoping I can score an ARC for) and a contemporary by Roan Parrish. All in February. (Yay! Happy Birthday to me!)
There is also a new Wayfarer-novel by Becky Chambers and a Murderbot-novel by Martha Wells coming from my local bookstore. One in February, and one in April.
Happy reading!
